We are a neighborhood bakery located in a restored fire station. Our kitchen and store are in the former truck bays, maintaining an open concept style which provides visitors with a full view of our kitchen going-ons. Here you will see our bakers hard at work, producing a multitude of quality baked goods. From blueberry pie made with Maine wild blueberries to coconut macaroons dipped in Belgian dark chocolate, we have something for everyone’s sweet tooth. Savory items such as cheddar biscuits baked with a combination of sharp and mild cheddar cheeses and home-style chicken pot pies filled with plenty of white meat and just the right amount of peas and carrots are part of our menu as well.
Engine 5 Bakehouse opened to fill a need in Central Maine – the need for a warm and friendly neighborhood bakery that provides excellent customer service along with the most delicious, quality baked goods. Our entire product line is made from scratch, in-house, using no pre-made fillings, mixes, or other preservative-laden items. We source local ingredients as much as possible and are proud to use honey from Sweet Works of Maine in Bowdoin and maple syrup from The Bacon Farm in Sydney.
Come check out a piece of local history while you peruse our selection to find that special treat you’ve been craving. We are open Thursday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
